Grit City is a celebration of the often overlooked and ignored - but visually dynamic - elements of Philadelphia city infrastructure. The graphic laser-cut metal silhouette compositions, derived from original photographs of the city’s industrial and commercial landscapes, explore the fascinating structures - and corresponding complex patterns of positive and negative space that form and reflect the familiar visual iconography of the urban environment.

The off-set fastening of the metal panels and the black powder-coated finish also serve to highlight the strong graphic nature of the artwork imagery.
