City of Toronto: Hydro and Rail Corridor Multi-Use Path Infrastructure Project
Public Art Competition: Artist-Designed Bicycle Stand/Lock-Up Multiple
Winning Design by Artist Team Marianne Lovink & Scott Eunson
Installation Complete: Spring 2012
Design Concept: Bike Plants
This series of bicycle lock-up stands was inspired by the fascinating variety and complexity of patterns found in the natural world. Each form, drawn from elements of the surrounding environment, attempts to capture a moment in the development of a living organism. They are suggestive rather than specific in form and are intended to reflect and celebrate the beauty and dynamic energy of nature.
Functionality:
Each stand provides multiple secure locking points at a variety of angles and heights to accommodate all bike and lock styles, while the design and flat profile will provide bike stability when in use.
The proposed bike stand designs meet all City of Toronto technical specifications and concerns: they are safe, low maintenance, durable, high quality and weather-resistant.
